Munchin’s win Senior Cup classic

AFTER an absorbing Munster Schools’ Senior Cup quarter-final at Thomond Park, a young St Munchin’s College came through (28-27) against great rivals Ardscoil Rís.

Munchin’s had trailed 27-14 at half-time.

And, but for a fine try from captain Kalum Kirwan the margin between the sides would have been even greater.

In the closing half, Munchin’s were best and scored good tries courtesy of David Geoghegan and late-on from Adam O’Shaughnessy (his second of the afternoon), which was snugly converted by an ice-cool Oisín Madden.

A highlight of the opening half was an Ardscoil try from Daniel Collins, who ran almost the entire length of the pitch to touch down between the posts.
