Limerick AA convention taking place in February

“MY name is Eoin and I am an alcoholic. I would be described as a functioning alcoholic and kidded myself for years that I didn’t have a problem and could drink, work, and live my life. I used to think that everyone else’s life revolved around drink, like mine. What initially started out as fun, enjoyment, and socialising gradually over a number of years slid into a selfish habit of me drinking on my own at home at all hours of the night.

Unfortunately, my drinking began to impact on my family, work and life. I tried many times to give up drink to no avail. The only thing that finally worked and still works for me is when I joined the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. I go to regular meetings, practice the 12 steps and have a sponsor which keeps me sober. But it is only for one day at a time. Thankfully AA is open to anyone who has a problem with drink and would like to stop.”

The Limerick AreaAA has meetings every day of the week throughout the city and county, details of which can be found online at www.alcoholicsanonymous.ie.

The Limerick Area AA Convention will take place from Thursday February 6 to Sunday February 9 at the Castletroy Park Hotel.
