Call to nominate young Limerick people

Crime Prevention Officer for Limerick, Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran.

LIMERICK Gardaí are inviting nominations from the public for awards for young people who have made a difference in their communities or who have overcome personal difficulties.

The Limerick Division, in association with Garvey’s Centra and Supervalu in Corbally, Adare, and Newcastle West, is planning the 10th Limerick Garda Divisional Youth Awards.

Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran explained that the awards “recognise that so many young people in every community throughout Limerick are involved in many positive activities”.

“Not alone is it to acknowledge their volunteering work, it could be young people who are involved in fundraising activities or raising awareness of certain issues,” Sergeant O’Halloran said.

“It could be through their activities and contributions to make their community a better and safer place to live in.  It is also to acknowledge young people who have overcome personal challenges in their lives”.

Nominators are asked to elect a young person or a group of young people who they feel has made this type of contribution.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Garda website at garda.ie and forwarded to [email protected], or sent by post to the Juvenile Liaison Office, Mayorstone Garda Station, Limerick.

Nomination forms are also being distributed to all second level schools, youth clubs, and other services in Limerick.

A presentation ceremony for the awards will be held in the Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel and Spa, Adare, on April 2, 2025.
