Timely winner for Byrnes at Limerick

In the winners enclosure at Limerick were trainer Charles Byrnes of Ballingarry, son Cathal, who celebrated his birthday at the weekend, wife Cora, along with jockey Sean O'Keeffe.

CATHAL Byrnes, assistant trainer to his dad Charles, enjoyed his 30th birthday with the victory of On Your Way in the Limerick Novice Hurdle of €11,500 at Greemount Park, Patrickswell on Tuesday.

The winner (15/8) is owned by the pair, along with mum/wife Cora, and the Byrnes operation is based at Ballynoe Stables, Ballingarry.

He was given a fine ride by Seán O’Keeffe, who brought ‘Way through to land the spoils by just a head from 6/5 favourite The Dancing Tree (Gavin Cromwell/Keith Donoghue).

“He’ll now run in whatever pops up next,” said Byrnes.

Limerick, meanwhile, will race next on March 13.
