Public consultation to take place on passage of fish at Annacotty Weir

Annacotty Weir, on River Mulkear in Co. Limerick

A PUBLIC consultation event will be held in Limerick this afternoon on improving the passage of fish at Annacotty Weir.

Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) will host the event at the Kilmurry Lodge Hotel on Wednesday (January 29) from 2.30pm to 7.30pm.

The IFI Annacotty Fish Passage Team seeks feedback to help inform the most appropriate solution for improving fish passage at the river.

Hazel King, Head of the Barrier Mitigation Division at IFI said: “Annacotty Weir presents a significant obstacle to the free movement of fish within the River Mulkear catchment, which is a Special Area of Conservation in the lower River Shannon.”
