The two MIC students were awarded by the Camogie Association.

TWO STUDENTS from Mary Immaculate College were awarded a total of โ‚ฌ40,000 by the Camogie Association after a ceremony in Croke Park which recognised their commitment to the sport.

The two players, Cliodhna Queally and Niamh Hally, hailing from Clare and Waterford respectively, were among seven first year students from a number of HEIs to receive bursaries.

Speaking at the presentation, Carmel Naughton said: โ€œFriends often say โ€˜Carmel, why camogie?โ€™ I am surprised that they donโ€™t understand that down through the centuries, the sliotar and hurl have been such an important part of our national heritage.โ€
