The new reporter will be helping keep the people of Limerick up to date on all the latest happenings throughout the city and county, from breaking news to fascinating feature stories.

With a weekly circulation of more than 40,000 copies each week, and an estimated readership – both in print and online – of over 250,000, it is considered Limerick’s most popular newspaper.
The Limerick Post is looking for a Print and Digital News Journalist to join its news team for both print and online publications.
The Print and Digital News Journalist will source, pitch, write, and produce high quality news content in keeping with both weekly and daily news cycles.
Day to day, the Print and Digital News Journalist will:
- Source, pitch, write, and edit original content across multiple platforms
- Respond quickly to breaking news across Limerick and the Mid West in a calm and organised fashion
- Liaise with the News Editor to contribute and develop digital production strategy, and be self-directed in maintaining the publication’s flow of online content
- Work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment
- Help develop and contribute to social media strategy for the publication’s social presences
- Work with the news team to develop stories, features, and content both in print and in multimedia formats
The ideal candidate will have:
- A passion for storytelling and reporting on local news
- 3+ years’ experience working in a legacy or digital news room
- A proven ability to deliver accurate and clean copy on a variety of news topics
- The ability to report on news items accurately and in a timely fashion
- Experience working with digital content management systems (WordPress, Hootsuite, etc.)
- A strong ability to conceptualise stories across a number of formats (print, video, audio, graphic)
- Excellent spoken and written command of the English language
- Experience with mobile (MOJO) and video journalism, and an ability to take initiative on multimedia projects
- A strong working knowledge of media law, defamation law, and Press Council of Ireland codes of practice
- The ability to prioritise and multitask independently
- A strong focus on teamwork
- The ability to work under pressure and to deadline
- Experience in video and audio production
- Experience in monitoring news and social platforms for breaking news or potential stories
- A background in SEO-friendly online newswriting
Desirable:
- A fluent level of Irish (Gaeilge)
- Experience in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro)
- A full, clean driving license
