THE Story So Farย (11/10f) landed the three-mile maiden hurdle at Cork for father-and-son Charles andย Philip Byrnes of Ballingarry at the weekend.

Runner-up in a Limerick handicap over Christmas, he was prominent throughout and went on before the third-last.

Cathal Byrnes, assistant to his dad Charles, told irishracing.com: โ€œPhilip gave him a lovely ride and went out with a plan to be handy. He was a little lairy over the first but once he got a lead and into a rhythm, he was good. He was the highest-rated horse, so all he did was run to his rating.

โ€œHe looks around but that’s why he has headgear on and three miles is his trip. Heโ€™ll go handicapping now.
