Limerick Gardaí stop man using phone while driving during national day of action

Gardaí discovered that the man tested positive for cannabis.

GARDAÍ in Limerick were out in force as part of a National Day of Action last Wednesday (January 15) to crack down on driving while holding a mobile phone and distracted driving.

During the operation, Gardaí stopped the driver of a black Ford SUV who was found to be holding a mobile phone while driving through Limerick City.

According to Gardaí, “once stopped, a roadside drug test was performed (on the driver), which indicated a positive result for cannabis”.

The driver was arrested and a blood sample was taken, along with the issue of penalty points and a fine.

Pending the results of the blood sample, a court attendance may also occur.
