ADAM English was forced off injured in University of Limerick’s opening round Fitzgibbon Cup (Colleges’ Hurling) Championship fixture against SETU Waterford at Maguries Field midweek.

The home side won the match comfortably, 3-24 to 1-17.

English, of county champions Doon had already knocked-in a neat goal before his enforced departure in the opening minutes of the second-half.

The nature of the injury is unclear but it’s hoped he will be available within the next couple of rounds for the local students, managed by Brian Ryan of South Liberties.

Tipperary’s Gearóid O’Connor top-scored for a UL team who had local representation through captain Colin Coughlan (Ballybrown), Aidan O’Connor (Ballybrown), Paddy O’Donnovan (Effin) and Ahane’s Evan O’Leary.
