CHRISTMAS has officially been extended in Templeglantine, where the Noonan family’s beloved charity light display will continue by public demand.
The bad weather meant that visitors who would normally come to see the massive display and contribute to local charities couldn’t make it, so Tony Noonan and his family have agreed to keep the lights on across this weekend from Friday to Sunday from 5.30pm to 9.30pm.
There were 18 inches of snow outside the Noonan’s door last weekend, when the family would normally be bombarded with seasonal visitors.
The fundraiser is now in its 25th year, with sums of over €30,000 collected each year in donations as people throw money in buckets to benefit local charities.
Tony was also recently presented with an award for his fundraising efforts over the last 25 years by Mayor of Limerick John Moran.
The family home is lit up by more than 5,000 lights and 300 illuminated Santas and snowmen.
With the exception of 2020, when the fundraiser had to go virtual because of Covid, Tony Noonan, his wife Hannah, and their daughter Siobhán have welcomed thousands of people each year to see the massive lights display and to raise money for local charities.
The four charities benefitting from the family’s glowing generosity this year are Limerick Suicide Watch, Recovery Haven Cancer Support House, Milford Care Centre, and Slí Eile residential mental health service.
There’s still time to view the winter wonderland this weekend at Tullig North in Templeglantine (Eircode V94 YH7W).
