Pedestrian in 70s killed in car crash in Abbeyfeale

GARDAÍ appealed for information and witnesses following the death of a man in a road crash in Abbeyfeale, County Limerick, on Sunday night (January 12).

Gardaí and other emergency services responded to the fatal collision shortly before 9pm on Sunday night. The Garda Press Office said the crash involved a car and a pedestrian, and occurred on New Street in the town.

“The pedestrian, a male in his 70s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later,” Gardaí stated.

The scene was preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions were put in place.

“A report will be sent to the local coroner and a post-mortem examination will be arranged,” Gardaí said.

Gardaí also appealed for “anyone with video footage, including motorists with dashcam footage from the area at the time” to come forward to aid in the investigation into the fatal crash.
