NEW car sales in 2024 in Limerick were up over four per cent on figures for last year, according to Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).
In 2024, there were 3,957 new cars sold in Limerick, an increase of 4.1 per cent on last year’s figures.
Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) this year were down by over 25 per cent, with 439 EVs being registered in Limerick this year, compared to 588 last year, a decrease of 25.35 per cent.
Nationally, new car sales were down by one per cent on last year.
Brian Cooke, SIMI Director General, said that “the industry’s focus is now firmly on its key selling period at the start of 2025,” and that SIMI “members are hopeful for the busy start to 2025”.
