LIMERICK City and County Council has urged caution to all those intending to travel tonight and tomorrow morning.

A statement from a Council spokesman wanted that “precipitation at present and expected until 3am is a mixture of rain, sleet, and snow” which could cause treacherous conditions on the roads for all those travelling throughout the county.

“Please expect black ice and treacherous driving conditions tomorrow morning (Tuesday) throughout the county on untreated and treated roads,” the Council statement continued.

“Excercise extreme caution when using roads and footpaths.”

It is understood that while grit is currently being put down on roads, due to current conditions, it is turning to ice.

The Council is reviewing conditions throughout the night and may be gritting roads again in the early hours.

All those intending to travel to work or school tomorrow morning are advised to use caution and work remote where possible.
