Over half a million given to Limerick and Clare ETB to improve energy efficiency

Minister Patrick O'Donovan.

OVER HALF a million euro has been given to Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB) to improve energy efficiency and sustainability in further education and training campuses across the region.

€580,000 will be provided to the LCETB under an €8million government funding round nationally, from the Department of Further and Higher Education and SOLAS, aimed at driving energy efficiency and decarbonisation.

Nationwide, ETBs have been awarded in the region of half a million euros each.

Explaining the rational behind the countrywide sustainability funding for schools, Limerick Minister for Higher Education Patrick O’Donovan said “it is unfair of us to demand something from our FET sector without giving them the means to make our goals a reality”.
