Hogan enjoys festival winner

Calum Hogan marked his first festival winner at Limerick.

AMONG the many highlights of the Christmas Racing action at Limerick was a first festival winner for teenage jockey Calum Hogan of Rathkeale.

He scored with Dream In The Park (7/2) in the BRC McMahon Reinforcements Handicap Chase.

Trainer Eric McNamara had earlier scored with 9/1 shot Millstream Lady in the Mr Binman Mares Handicap Hurdle.

The McNamara double was achieved 40 years on from the Rathkeale handler’s first Festival winner For Jon.

He quipped “forty years ago today, I trained my first winner with For Jon, with Michael Byrne riding him. It was at the old Greenpark racecourse so there have been a lot of changes since, but we’re still at it and haven’t gone hungry yet.”
