Over 4,000 Ukrainians welcomed to Limerick since war began

LIMERICK has welcomed just over 4,000 Ukrainian people since the invasion of their home country by Russia in February 2022.

That’s according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office, based on data around the provision of PPS numbers and temporary protection status.

The CSO reported 4,086 Ukrainian people arriving in Limerick to escape the now almost three-year Russian war at home.

They are among 109,566 to receive temporary protection status in Ireland as of September 29, 2024.

Limerick City West was the local electoral area to welcome the most Ukrainian citizens so far (1,447), followed by Cappamore Kilmallock (632), City North (623), City East (527), Newcastle West (516), and Adare Rathkeale (341).
