A MOTHER of one killed when a van struck a set of gates of a property at Rathkeale last week is to be laid to rest this weekend.
Marguerita ‘Maggie’ O’Rourke (nee Sheridan), from Roches Row, Rathkeale, and her husband Denis, had celebrated the birth of their first child, Edward, last month.
She suffered critical injuries and died after a van struck gates she was standing by at Bank Place, Well Lane, Rathkeale last Saturday (December 21).
Danny O’Donoghue (42), of Lower Main Street, Rathkeale, appeared before a special late sitting of Limerick District Court on Christmas Eve, charged in connection with the young mother’s death.
It was confirmed today that Marguerita Sheridan’s remains will be reposed at Cross’ Funeral Home in Limerick City from 2pm to 4pm this Saturday (December 28).
Her funeral will take place at St Mary’s Church in Rathkeale at 12.30pm on Sunday (December 29), with burial afterwards in the local cemetery.
John Sheridan, the late Ms Sheridan’s father, paid tribute to his daughter and described her as “a true legend” who loved horses.
The State Pathologist, Dr Sally Anne Collis, performed a post mortem on Ms Sheridan’s remains.
Investigating Gardaí said that for “operational reasons”, they were not releasing the results of the autopsy.
