Young mother killed in fatal Rathkeale collision to be laid to rest on Sunday

A MOTHER of one killed when a van struck a set of gates of a property at Rathkeale last week is to be laid to rest this weekend.

Marguerita โ€˜Maggieโ€™ Oโ€™Rourke (nee Sheridan), from Roches Row, Rathkeale, and her husband Denis, had celebrated the birth of their first child, Edward, last month.

She suffered critical injuries and died after a van struck gates she was standing by at Bank Place, Well Lane, Rathkeale last Saturday (December 21).

Danny Oโ€™Donoghue (42), of Lower Main Street, Rathkeale, appeared before a special late sitting of Limerick District Court on Christmas Eve, charged in connection with the young motherโ€™s death.

It was confirmed today that Marguerita Sheridanโ€™s remains will be reposed at Crossโ€™ Funeral Home in Limerick City from 2pm to 4pm this Saturday (December 28).

Her funeral will take place at St Maryโ€™s Church in Rathkeale at 12.30pm on Sunday (December 29), with burial afterwards in the local cemetery.

John Sheridan, the late Ms Sheridanโ€™s father, paid tribute to his daughter and described her as โ€œa true legendโ€ who loved horses.

The State Pathologist, Dr Sally Anne Collis, performed a post mortem on Ms Sheridanโ€™s remains.

Investigating Gardaรญ said that for โ€œoperational reasonsโ€, they were not releasing the results of the autopsy.
