JP MCMANUS of Martinstown has been selected at number three in a list compiled by the Racing Post as the Biggest Influencers in the sport over the last 25 years.

Journalist Chris Cook noted: “A long list of trainers have reason to be thankful of his support, as McManus believes in spreading his investment widely.”

He added that “McManus was the main employer for Tony McCoy (number seven) through most of his record-smashing career.”

“The century began with Istabraq’s third Champion Hurdle and the race has been very kind to the owner, as he since won it with five other horses.”

At number two was Sheikh Mohammed, while the list was headed by John Magnier (Coolmore).
