LIMERICK City and County is ending the year out on a hot streak, after scooping up yet another national award.
The local authority secured the Public Space Planning Award at the recent 2024 Ireland Property Industry Excellent Awards, for its Go Green Routes, Castletroy Greenway project .
The local green way project was described as a sustainable urban initiative that helps integrate nature-based solutions, biodiversity-enhancing play areas, and community-led design to create a space for nature connection, social engagement, and natural play along the Castletroy Greenway.
The annual gala of the Ireland Property Industry Excellence Awards 2024, regarded as the “Oscars” of the Irish property sector, celebrates “groundbreaking achievements and showcased the industry’s best”, a representative of the awards said.
Speaking at the awards, Jim Clery, partner and head of Real Estate at KPMG, said: “This year’s winners demonstrate tremendous achievements across a spectrum of categories … From redefining urban landscapes to preserving historic landmarks and delivering inclusive housing solutions, these projects exemplify the transformative potential of our vital sector.”
Elsewhere, the Contractor of the Year award was presented to SISK, while TODD Architects took the Architecture Award for the new Royal Academy of Music in Dublin.
Congratulating the Shannonside winners, the awards representative said that: “Limerick County Council, like all winners, reflects the dynamic evolution of Ireland’s property industry and its capacity to tackle pressing challenges like climate change, urbanisation, and housing inclusivity. As the sector moves forward, the shared values of sustainability and innovation will undoubtedly continue to drive excellence.”
