A LIMERICK-BASED bottled water company has won big at the British Bottlers Institute (BBI) Competition.
Ishka, bottled from natural springs in Ballyneety, County Limerick, took home both a gold medal and a diploma for excellence for both its still and sparkling water at this year’s competition.
Ishka’s still water was awarded a gold medal, while its sparkling water took home a diploma for excellence, which the company says underscoes the quality and purity of its products.
The BBI Competition, a globally recognised event running for nearly 70 years, evaluates beverages through a rigorous blind tasting conducted by a panel of seasoned industry experts.
The Limerick company is one of Ireland’s biggest bottled water companies.
Mike Sutton, director at Ishka, said that the two awards highlight the hard work that goes into their products on a daily basis.
“Winning gold for our still water and a diploma for excellence for our sparkling water is a proud moment for our team,” he said.
“It highlights the care, craftsmanship, and dedication we put into every drop of Ishka water. It’s a privilege to share a taste of Ireland’s natural beauty with our customers.”
Ed Binsted, president of the British Bottlers Institute, said that the 2024 wins have eclipsed Ishka’s previous wins.
He deemed it a “a wonderful achievement for Ishka to gain a gold award for their still spring water eclipsing their previous success”.
“To also be awarded a diploma for excellence for their sparkling spring water proves the quality of their products and very well deserved,” he said.
The Limerick company have recently invested €4.5million in a new line, creating 10 new jobs in the area.
