LIMERICK’S William ‘The Magpie’ O’Connor (Cappamore) will throw against Dylan Slevin of Tipperary in the first round of the £2.5 million PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace in London on Friday.
Experienced O’Connor, who is ranked inside the World’s Top 50 and is competing in his eighth such championship, is favourite to win this opener.
The winner will advance to face Belgian 11th seed Dimitri van den Bergh in the second round two days later.
Both of these matches are the best of five sets.
