Limerick Gardaí warn Christmas revellers to remain streetwise

GARDAÍ are advising people who are out celebrating over the Christmas and the New Year period to stay streetwise.

Said Garda John Finnerty, “crime can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. The thieves think that they won’t be caught and the victim thinks that it won’t be him or her.

“Not every thief will get caught, but every victim will suffer. Our advice is to stay in the company that you know, make plans to get home safely before you go out, and don’t respond to taunts or snide remarks by others.

“Stay on well-lit streets and if you see criminal behaviour, leave the area and call the Gardaí.”
