YOUNG Hurler of the Year nominee Cathal O’Neill (Crecora Manister) is doubtful to feature for Limerick in the early stages of the National League after suffering a worrying hamstring injury while on Fitzgibbon Cup duty with University of Limerick.

O’Neill (22) became a regular feature of John Kiely’s starting team this year having nailed down his spot on the back of some polished performances, including a stand-out display in the Munster Championship defeat of Waterford.

In the words of former Limerick captain James Ryan, “O’Neill was the most exciting player to come through for Limerick in 2024”.

All-Star goalkeeper Nickie Quaid of Effin is already ruled-out for next season.
