AHEAD of the festive break, Limerick host the Desmond League in the Oscar Traynor Trophy at Jackman Park on Sunday (2pm kick-off).
Much is known about John Lysaght’s outfit but not so of the county side, who have quality performers in Andrew Ruddle (Newcastle West), Adam Long (Ballingarry), captain Joe McAuliffe (Broadford United), Pa Aherne (Newcastle West Town) and David Geary (Ballingarry), who scored the lone goal in the recent home win over Clare.
Elsewhere in local soccer news, Stephen Christopher has departed Treaty United, the club has confirmed.
With a record 115 appearances, he has been a stalwart for the side since his arrival in Summer 2021.
Christopher was a key performer as the team reached the First Division playoff stages that season and the semi-final of the FAI Cup the following year.
Meanwhile, Fionn Doherty (20) has re-signed for Treaty.
“Fionn did really well last year at left-back, when he got his chance he took it. We had to work with him on playing in that position as he came into the club at underage level as an attacker, but he’s done really well since making the move,” manager Tommy Barrett told TreatyUnitedFC.com.
“We think he can kick on further in 2025 as he’s a very good athlete with a really good attitude, so we’re delighted to have him on board.”
