A COUNTY Limerick food outlet has been shut down after inspectors from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) discovered evidence of someone living a store room.

Grill Kebab in Broadford, County Limerick, was issued with a closure order in part due to evidence of a person living in the rear kitchen.

The FSAI noted there was a mattress on the floor in a storage room with bedding, a suitcase, shoes, clothes, and a stained towel on the wall.

The FSAI released a report this past week listing a number of food premises ordered to close around the country and others which were served with enforcement orders because of breaches of food hygiene and safety regulations.

A closure order was served to Grill Kebab on Main Street, Broadford, on November 14.

The FSAI inspector found a risk of cross-contamination after noticing there was no sink or wash basin in the kitchen.

One worker was tasked with handling both raw and finished products, handling money, and cleaning the work area without easy access to a sink with hot and cold water.

Defrosting raw breaded chicken was found sitting in water at the base of a fridge and mould was found growing in the seal.

The inspector found no probe thermometer was available to monitor the temperature of cooked food and no records were kept of cook temperatures or use by dates.

In Dublin, the FSAI said, one restaurant was ordered to shut following an outbreak of cockroach infestation in a number of neighbouring premises.
