Hardware is set to ignite the Belltable in Limerick on Saturday, December 14, with an unforgettable evening of cutting-edge electronic music, interactive art, and immersive experiences.
This highly anticipated third instalment of their club night promises an electrifying blend of sound, dance, and visual creativity.
Hardware is a new conceptual club night taking place quarterly in Belltable. The focus of the club night is live implementation of the tools used to create electronic music.
Spearheaded by local musicians: Chaz Moloney and Brawni, Hardware aims to bring electronic musicians from around the country together in a collaborative effort to produce one night of improvised music together.
Charlie ‘Chaz’ Moloney chatted with Limerick Post this week in the lead up to Hardware’s latest night of innovative electronic music happening this Saturday 14. The Hardware crew ran a pilot event in the venue last December and since then have been increasing the capacity and increasing the production size over the over the last couple of events.
Their reputation is growing and Hardware now has a loyal fanbase for these events, their merch stall sold out within the first hour at a previous event.
What is Hardware?
“Hardware is a concept club night and it is focused on the tools that music producers use to create electronic music.”
In the main room Chaz Moloney and his business partner Brawni invite two electronic musicians, to come on stage and bring some equipment from their studio
“Basically we set up four stations in the middle of the theatre and we interlink all our stations together so that everything is clocked together and running together in time. We improvise for four hours, so nothing is prepared. We just like, hit, go, and we just start making music together.
“Then it’s kind of just a magical, kind of spiritual journey for next four hours. Like it’s crazy how cohesive the music comes out at the end.”
The quartet of producers work in the centre of the theatre, on the floor in the round, and the audience can get close to see what they are doing and the producers can see how the audience is reacting to their sound.
“It gives people a nice opportunity to get up close to the creation of the sounds, they can walk around and see what everyone’s doing, rather than, if we’re on a stage, then you have that kind of divide where people can’t really see what’s going on.”
The lighting rig also highlights what the producers are doing in the centre of the theatre and the County Clare based Mindscape Sound Hire provide the amplification and sound to make the whole event an immersive experience.
“It sounds absolutely phenomenal with a speaker stack in each corner of the room.
“The energy does rise up through the four hours, like the last hour and a half, it feels like there’s no division between the artists and the crowd. So it just really makes for a very special atmosphere.”
Cyber Jungle
For an alternative sensory experience, the downstairs gallery will transform into the “Cyber Jungle,” an interactive installation by the @XplusXcollective.
This vivid and immersive visual art piece invites attendees to explore a kaleidoscopic world of colour and sound, blending technology and artistry in a way that will dazzle and delight.
The café downstairs offers a soothing escape in the form of the Ambient Lounge. Local artist Rois will provide a serene soundscape, creating the perfect setting for relaxation and reflection amidst the night’s excitement.
Hardware continue to develop a YouTube platform to showcase their work.
“We do record it to a pretty high standard, where we have multiple camera angles in the room, and we have a camera operator, and then we obviously capture the audio as well, and then we edit into like a four hour video. All available to watch back afterwards.”
