A LIMERICK company has announced that it has appointed a new chief investment officer (CIO).
Financial planning firm Metis Ireland announced that it has appointed Declan King, formerly of Davy Ireland, to take up the position.
Mr King was the head of investments at Davy Ireland for the past four years, having initially joined Davy in 2015 as a senior investment analyst.
He began his financial consultancy career in New York with First Derivatives in 2011, before returning to Ireland in 2014 to join Deloitte, followed by his move to Davy.
Originally from Tramore, County Waterford, Mr King graduated from University College Cork with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2011 and holds both CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) professional designations.
Carl Widger, managing director of Metis Ireland, said that Mr King’s appointment further strengthens the company’s investment and wealth management credentials.
“Since we started Metis Ireland in 2014, we’ve experienced exponential organic growth thanks to our approach of providing our clients, be they individuals, businesses or families, with the highest-quality, bespoke financial planning solutions.
“Welcoming Declan to the team represents a significant appointment and further strengthens our investment and wealth management credentials. We’re delighted to have him on board and know he will be a major asset in helping us to achieve our ambitious target of growing our assets under management to €1bn over the next couple of years,” Mr Widger said.
Mr King said that “I’ve been hugely impressed with the progress that Carl and the team at Metis Ireland have made to date and relish the opportunity to apply my expertise to their current client portfolio, as well as helping them to realise their ambitious growth plans”.
“The agile structure at Metis Ireland allows us to create highly-tailored, bespoke solutions for our clients, which is an exciting prospect for me,” the Waterford man added.
Metis currently manages a client portfolio worth over €450million, and employs 23 people across its Limerick and Dublin offices.
