With over 10 million albums and 30 million tracks sold worldwide, Train is a household name in the music world. The band boasts an impressive legacy, including three GRAMMY Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, and a slew of other accolades. Known for their genre-defining music, Train has placed 14 songs on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and 13 albums on the Billboard 200 chart.
Train’s story began in 1994 in San Francisco, where the original five-member band steadily built a local following. Their big break came in 1998 with the release of their self-titled debut album under Columbia Records. The album’s standout single, ‘Meet Virginia,’ became an unexpected radio hit and set the stage for greater successes.
In 2001, the band skyrocketed to fame with ‘Drops of Jupiter’, their multi-platinum album led by the double-GRAMMY-winning title track. The single spent 10 months on the Top 40, achieved RIAA 7x platinum certification, and won the GRAMMY Award for Best Rock Song.
The momentum continued with the 2009 album Save Me, San Francisco, featuring the global phenomenon ‘Hey, Soul Sister.’ This chart-topping single became the most downloaded track of 2010, achieved RIAA Diamond status in 2021, and now 11x platinum, and in 2022 surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.
