LIMERICK City and County Council’s lighting team is investigating options to improve street lighting at the Childers Road Railway Bridge.

In response to a question from Fine Gael councillor Sarah Kiely at this month’s Metropolitan District meeting, the City East representative was informed that the Council’s new public lighting maintenance contractor is assessing a fault on an existing street light at the Galvone side of Childers Road adjacent to this bridge.

“Once this fault has been addressed, it is expected that the public lighting in this area will be enhanced,” said John Gannon of the Council’s Transportation and Mobility Directorate.

Cllr Kiely pointed out that a commitment had been given last year on progressing with lighting at the railway bridge.
