WORK on the Kings Island Flood Relief Scheme is progressing, with fencing underway in an area near Kings Island Community Crèche, extending halfway up the green area at Oliver Plunkett Street.

Major improvements to the flood defences are required to try to prevent re-occurrences of major flooding such as happened in 2014.

As a result, the Riverbank Walkway in this area is closed until further notice, though access to the Allotments and Fisherman’s Access will remain open.

Main construction, led by Ward and Burke, will begin shortly.
