THE staff at Dempsey’s wished a warm congratulations to Westend Boxing Club on their continued growth and success.
“There is an outstanding membership of volunteers in place guiding the club, giving up their own time and passing on their considerable expertise to the next generation of highly talented local girls and boys,” a Dempseys representive said.
“Clubs like Westend Boxing keep local communities strong. I urge local government to take seriously the requirements of Limerick communities, to give these great communities the facilities and resources that they need to continue to flourish, and to do so via established sports and social clubs.
“Limerick City is and has always been gifted with outstanding young talent, girls and boys that have the potential to reach the very peak in their chosen field. It is essential that this talent is identified and encouraged.”
The Dempsey’s pharmacy representative continued that “running any club, social or sports, incurs huge expenses every year. Passionate volunteers are often the ones who end up financing the various activities involved, maintaining premises and grounds, transporting kids to matches, tournaments, shows, or other events.”
“This work often goes unnoticed, yet it offers enormous benefit to the local community. This volunteer work is invaluable to the social fabric of our society, yet often goes undervalued by those at the top.
“It was therefore a privilege when Jennifer introduced us to Mike in Westend Boxing Club. We had already been asked by the Allcare Pharmacy group, the largest and most successful community pharmacy group in Ireland, to see if there was any opportunity to help locally.
“With the generosity of Allcare Pharmacy, we here in Dempsey’s were able to help fund the purchase of some equipment and sportswear for the kids. It is only a small gesture, a lot more is required to keep these great clubs thriving, and I hope that our government will step up and fund these facilities.”
Dempsey’s Pharmacy has been serving North Munster for over 50 years, and for a considerable bulk of that time, the growth of Dempsey’s can be at least partially attributed to the help and support received from the Allcare franchise down through these years.
“This back-office support allows us to focus on the most important aspect of community pharmacy, the needs of the patient,” the Dempseys spokesperson said.
