PUPILS at Ahane National School have a new chill space to rest and recharge when the going gets tough as the school unveiled its new sensory space.

The new area is designed to support the sensory and emotional needs of all its pupils and was made possible through dedicated fundraising efforts of the school’s Parents Association and generous community support.

The space is intended for children of all abilities and is equipped with calming lights, tactile panels, and comfortable seating to provide a soothing environment where students can relax, self-regulate, and recharge during the school day.

Siobhan Kennedy, principal of Ahane National School, expressed her enthusiasm for the new addition, saying that “the sensory space is a wonderful resource that will benefit all of our children, particularly those who need a little extra support to thrive”.

“We’re deeply grateful to the Parents Association and our local community, including Unity Credit Union, for making this dream a reality. It’s a testament to what we can achieve when we all work together for our school.”
