A VERY special Christmas fair is taking place this Friday morning (December 6) to support the important work of St Gabriel’s School.

The St Gabriel’s School Christmas Crafts Fair will kick off at the Dooraboyle-based school from 10am on Friday and will offer a whole host of cakes, coffee, tea, and assorted Christmas goodies.

There will also be live music, an Irish dancing display, and a raffle.

All funding from the fair will go towards the special needs school, including supporting extra curricular activities.

“Our children travel from North Cork to South of Galway over a 65km radius.  We are in a unique position of having six nursing staff which helps our children to attend school,” a representative of the school said.

“We have no hall for the school and insufficient space for children with severe complex needs to mobilise. The only space available is the outdoor space which we are now aiming to cover with pergolas to make it a dry space during our rainy days.

“Unfortunately, there is no extra funding being provided to meet these needs, so as parents we are aiming to raise €25,000 to build covered pergolas.”
