A LIMERICK choir whose aim is to “uplift, unite, and inspire” through the power of music is staging concert to help another organisation that works hard to help people who find themselves in a dark place.
Cantate Deo, an award-winning choir founded in 2015, is planning a Christmas concert in support of Limerick Suicide Watch.
Choir conductor Anna Banko told the Limerick Post that Limerick Suicide Watch “provides critical support for individuals in crisis through compassionate outreach and essential resources”.
“Every performer in this concert – singers, instrumentalists, and collaborators – will volunteer their time, and 100 per cent of ticket proceeds will directly support the ongoing work of Limerick Suicide Watch.”
Limerick Suicide Watch are one of a number of patrol groups who walk the riverside and quays in Limerick City nightly with the aim of providing some solace to those who may be feeling distressed and need someone to listen.
The Cantata Deo choir started out as a singing forum for Limerick’s Polish community and has grown to embrace singers and performers of every nationality and from every corner of the county.
The special event will take place on December 14 at 7.30 pm in St Michael’s Church on Denmark Street in Limerick City.
“Joining us for this memorable evening is the exceptional Seoda Chamber Choir, led by their esteemed conductor Maire Scanlon, and we are in discussions to bring on additional talented participants,” choir conductor Anna told the Limerick Post.
The two choirs will also be welcoming 77 children from the Corpus Christi choir for the performance of a lifetime.
“Together, we hope to create an unforgettable night of music and community.”
