WHEN a customer buys a piece of meat at Jim Flavins Butchers in Castletroy, the person serving it can all but tell them the name of the cow.
The ‘Farm to Fork’ ethos of Flavin’s raising the animals on their own farm and knowing exactly what excellent quality that produces is one of the reasons they won best Retail and Wholesaler of the year 2024 at the family business awards.
“It’s a honour and a testament to our loyal customer base, the care we take and the quality we produce as well as to the dedication of our family and out staff,” Ciara, one of the second generation of Flavin’s in the business told the Limerick Post.
Jim started the endeavour in 1996 and since then it has grown to employ ten staff an to supply many of the top restaurants in Limerick.
“We were up against all different size companies, small, medium and large. It was a very broad spectrum in the competition, so we’re delighted,” said Ciara.
