Council quizzed on decision to not have Christmas lights switch on ceremony

The Council have been quizzed on the decision not to hold a Christmas lights switch-on ceremony this year.

FIANNA Fáil councillor Catherine Slattery questioned Limerick City and County Council on why it did not provide an in-person ceremony to switch on the Christmas lights in Limerick City this year.

Cllr Slattery was informed by the executive at November’s full meeting of the local authority that a number of Christmas events have been programmed across the county and city throughout the month of December, but not a formal lighting ceremony for the city.

“It was decided that there would be no switch on event for Christmas 2024,” Council management replied.
