Limerick dog wardens and Gardaí stepping up dog patrols following XL Bully ban

Limerick dog wardens and Gardaí have stepped up patrols.

FOLLOWING the introduction of the ban on XL bully dogs, dog wardens and Gardaí in Limerick are stepping up patrols in local parks and public spaces with an increased focus on dog control.

The Council confirmed new signage is being erected in public areas to remind owners to keep dogs on a leash, clean up animal foul, and use short leashes (under two metres) and muzzles on dogs of restricted breeds.

This comes as Limerick Dog Shelter has waived surrender fees for dogs of restricted breeds, with every effort being made to re-home them where possible.

Gardaí and the Council are also looking for information on stray or dangerous dogs that need rehoming, those with any leads can call 061 301 604.
