AS Christmas fast approaches, An Post has published a list of last posting dates to make sure festive cards and gifts arrive on time for the big day.
With so many of our nearest and dearest living or spending the holidays abroad, knowing when to sent that letter to make sure it’s waiting on Christmas morning has never been more important.
For standard post letters and cards, the last posting date for guaranteed delivery by Christmas is December 22 within Ireland, December 19 for Northern Ireland, December 18 for Great Britain, and December 17 for the rest of Europe.
For letters that are heading further afield, the last posting date is December 10 for mail to the USA, with the date for guaranteed Christmas delivery to the rest of the world set at December 5.
For standard post parcels, the last date for posting within Ireland is December 21 to be guaranteed that they will arrive by Christmas, December 19 for Northern Ireland, December 18 for Great Britain, December 17 for the rest of Europe, and December 5 for the USA and the rest of the world.
For any registered post, the last postal date for letters within Ireland is December 20, for Northern Ireland it will be December 19, for Great Britain it will be December 18, while for the rest of Europe it will be December 17.
For those wishing to send registered post to the United States or the rest of the world, the last posting date for guaranteed Christmas delivery is December 5.
For Express Post, An Post’s next day delivery service, the last posting day for delivery by Christmas is December 20 within Ireland, December 19 for Northern Ireland, December 18 for Great Britain, December 17 for the rest of Europe, and December 10 for the USA and the rest of the world.
For anyone sending post or parcels internationally, An Post’s advice is to post early as the mail can be subject to customs examination at their destination.
