JUST one Fine Gael candidate remains in the race for Dáil after count nine, which saw Senator Maria Byrne eliminated.
Her 3,173 will now be distributed among the remaining candidates in the race.
Count nine saw Aontú’s Sarah Beasley pick up 550 votes from Frankie Daly (Ind), keeping her in the race on 3,371 votes.
Prior to this, it had been looking like Beasley would be the next out, but the shocking transfer twist saw her edge out ahead of the Fine Gael senator.
Sinn Féin’s Maurice Quinlivan looks a certainty to be elected to Dáil Éireann after the next count or two, picking up 714 votes in the last round, bringing his total number of votes to 8,242, just 193 shy of the 8,435 quota.
Next highest candidate, Fine Gael’s Kieran O’Donnell is on 6,782, 1,653 votes short of the quota.
Counting continues here at Limerick Racecourse.
