FOLLOWING his recent New York outing, Limerick’s John Kinsella is now the only person in the world over 40 to have completed all six World Marathon Majors in under a hugely impressive 2 hours 30 minutes.
Along with New York, the other legs of the infamous six were Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, and Chicago.
Kinsella’s achievement is all the more remarkable given that the Southill athlete only took up the sport inside the last 10 years.
“It all started from nothing really. A friend asked me to do a 10k run around Mungret, which I did and enjoyed it. It kind of got me into running straight away. From then on, I just started training a good bit and seven weeks later I did the Great Limerick Run,” he said.
“Someone said at the run that I was capable of a marathon run, and that started the special journey for me of marathon running.”
