TWO former County Limerick Garda stations are set to get a new lease of life and provide much needed homes.
Limerick City and County Council has lodged a Part 8 planning permission to turn the former Galbally and Shanagolden Garda Stations into new homes.
In Galbally, Limerick City and County Council is proposing to demolish a single-storey detached building at the former Garda station site, along with the refurbishment of the existing former Garda station itself, turning it into a three-bedroom home.
The Council said that a former station annex will also be turned into homes, with the local authority planning to turn it into a two-bedroom dwelling, while two semi-detached three-bedroom homes will also be built on the site.
As part of the plans, six car parking spaces will be provided, with ancillary site, boundary, and entrance works.
In Shanagolden, the Council is planning to convert the former Garda station into two residential units, while a former station annex is to be turned into a one-bedroom unit.
Limerick City and County Council has said that there is no likelihood of significant impacts on the environment as a result of works at either site.
The plans are available for public viewing until December 20 at Customer Services Desk, Limerick City and County Council, Merchant’s Quay (V94 EH90), and at the Planning and Environmental Services Department, Limerick City and County Council Offices, Dooradoyle Road (V94 WV78).
