THE 45th anniversary celebrations of Ballinacurra Gaels proved a hugely successful occasions at The Blue Bar, Punches Cross.
It was an opportunity for the large gathering to delve through the archives, of which the photographic element was most interested, affording many people a chance of seeing themselves in their much earlier years.
A slide-show was an addition to the event.
Guests included acting Mayor Cllr Maria O’Donoghue, herself a club official, Limerick GAA Chairman Seamus McNamara, Gearóid Balfry (Munster Ladies Football), Fr. Richard Keane, Principal Peter Jennings (Our Lady of Lourdes) and historian Sharon Slater, while on the political front Esther Aherne and Conor Sheehan were present.
Another guest was Billy Gibbs, son of a late founding club member Jim.
The birthday cake was cut by Eileen Gibbs and young Lily Buckley.
The hosts included lead club officials Chairman Eoin Buckley, Angela Higgins, Senan O’Driscoll and Anne-Marie McDonald.
Ballinacurra Gaels hope to have their own club pavilion come the time for its Golden Jubilee celebrations.
