CONSTRUCTION on 1,146 new homes has gotten underway across Limerick city and county so far this year.
That’s according to new figures released by the Department of Housing.
The figures stand high above the 796 which had commenced within the same period last year.
According to the figures, construction on 154 new homes got underway this past September, by far the highest number of any September in the past 10 years in Limerick.
It marks the second highest number for new builds gotten underway in a single month in Limerick so far this year, behind April (471) and just ahead of May (140).
August was the month with the lowest number of new commencements in Limerick, the figures show, with just 27 new homes breaking ground.
