New Limerick skincare company hoping to revolutionise skincare in sport

Eoin Breen and Kevin Moore of Atlantik Bodycare want to revolutionise skincare for athletes.

A NEW Limerick skincare company is hoping to make proper skincare a key concern for the sporting world.

Atlantik Bodycare, founded by West Limerick men Eoin Breen and Kevin Moore, recently introduced two new products to shelves – the Body Armour body wash and Trojan Healing Serum, made with 100 per cent natural ingredients.

Speaking to the Limerick Post, Kevin Moore said that the idea for the company came about from his sporting background and seeing first-hand how few products targeted athletes’ skin, saying that the sporting world has been “left behind”.

“Exercise has taken off. Nutrition has taken off in the last 20 years. But skincare is just left behind,” he told the Limerick Post.

“I know myself from sports, there’s so many sports skin issues, and people don’t have a clue about how to deal with them.

“With all the endurance sports, running, cycling, Hyrox and CrossFit, the skin is the one thing that is just battered and it’s kind of just left behind,” he explained.

Because of this, the lifelong West Limerick friends who went to primary school together, decided to start looking into how to make the best skincare products, not just for athletes, but for everyone.

Kevin and Eoin teamed up with Listowel biochemist Dr Neil Maher for his expertise in creating the most natural products possible.

After two years of developing and testing the products, Atlantik Bodycare’s products was launched this past August.

“The results in our body wash called Body Armour, we tested it for how effective it was at breaking down common bacteria and fungi that caused a lot of skin issues. And the results were right on par with some over the counter drugs,” Mr Moore outlined.

“We tested against international leading synthetic body washes as well, and it was the streets ahead of them and that was huge for us.”

Atlantik Bodycare is also trying to change the narrative around skincare, and educate more people about skin health.

“People are picking products that smell well because they think they’re what’s best, so there’s a huge lack of education,” Mr Moore explained.

Atlantik Bodycare’s Body Armour body wash and the Trojan Healing Serum available to purchase on Atlantik Bodycare’s website, AtlantikBodycare.com.
