FOR his immense contribution to broadcasting, Len Dinneen of Live 95 has been presented with the Fred Cogley Award by the Rugby Writers of Ireland (RWI).
A quality player in his day with Old Crescent and London Irish, and who was also capped by his province, Dinneen has been associated with some of the most iconic moments in the history of local radio broadcasting over many decades.
Two of his many highlights were commentaries of Munster’s twin European Cup successes of 2006 and 2008, and the AIL breakthrough success of Young Munster of 1993.
Also honoured under the print category was another media legend Ned Van Esbeck.
Mr. Cogley’s son Niall presented the awards.
The ceremony was held at the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin on Tuesday.
