A LIMERICK Centra outlet has been named the best store in Ireland at a recent retail awards ceremony.
Garvey’s Centra in Newcastle West was named as National Centra Store of the Year for 2024 at the Pride of Centra Awards.
The awards aims to recognise and honour exceptional standards set in Centra outlets nationwide.
Newcastle West’s Garvey’s Centra beat out competition from stores the length and breadth of the country, coming out on top of over 490 outlets.
Adjudicated by Dr Alan Collins, the Store of the Year was determined based on store audits that focused on product range and quality, customer service, store presentation and innovation, fresh food offering, store hygiene standards, and sustainability.
Following a revamp in 2023, the management and staff of Garvey’s Centra broadened its range of offerings in the deli and bakery to better serve their local community, also increasing their food-to-go offerings and self-scan checkouts.
The Newcastle West store was also named Store of the Year in the Hi-Convenience category.
Other Limerick outlets were also awarded on the night, with Reidy’s Centra in Foynes being named Off Licence Convenience of the Year, Bernadette O’Connor from Lee’s Centra in Pallasgreen was named Management Team Member of the Year, while Lee’s Centra on the Limerick Road in Charleville was named Deli of the Year.
Jim Garvey, Store Owner of Garvey’s Centra in Newcastle West, said that the award is a great achievement for their team.
