Experience the magic of Christmas with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and the Irish Youth Choir, featuring Ireland’s finest young voices under the direction of Patrick Barrett. This festive celebration of music, blending timeless classics with modern gems, promises to be a highlight of the season.
Composers throughout history have captured the wonder and joy of Christmas in their works, and this concert is no exception. Errollyn Wallen’s reflective hymn Peace on Earth will inspire awe, while ICO’s performance of Torelli’s Christmas Concerto, showcasing violinists Katherine Hunka and André Swanepoel, will bring enchantment to the evening.
Benjamin Britten’s vibrant pieces, including the playful Sentimental Saraband and Boisterous Bourrée, as well as the dynamic carol This Little Babe, promise to captivate. Mozart’s sublime Ave verum corpus conveys devotional intensity, while Warlock’s Capriol Suite will delight with its elegant dance melodies.
The concert also features a selection of beloved carols, from the mesmerising Ukrainian Carol of the Bells and the timeless We Three Kings to the serene Still, Still, Still and Eric Whitacre’s Disney-inspired Glow. The audience will also have the chance to join in on stirring renditions of O Come, All Ye Faithful and Silent Night, closing the evening on a joyful note.
