Plenty of local interest in Junior Clubs Cup

THE quarter-finals have been confirmed in the Junior Clubs Challenge Cup.

In the last eight, it’s Newcastle West v Kilfeacle, Richmond v St. Mary’s, Clonakilty v Thomond and Bandon v Sunday’s Well.

In the one tie of matter at the weekend, Richmond withstood a late rally by Skibbereen to win 22-17 at the Canal Bank.

Tries from Keith McCarthy, Osama Farag and Ger Meehan, along with a conversion by Brian Mullins had Richmond 17-0 ahead at the interval.

Farag extended his side’s advantage early in the second half.

Skibb’ rallied with tries but the home side withstood the resistance.

The quarter-final draw for the Shield is: Charleville v Castleisland, Ennis v Old Christians, Ballincollig v Clanwilliam and St. Senan’s Waterpark.
