Quaid injury blow for Limerick

All-Star Limerick hurler Nickie Quaid.

ON THE eve of a return to pre-season training by the Limerick senior hurling squad, it has been confirmed that brilliant goalkeeper Nickie Quaid is sidelined by injury.

In a statement from the management, it was revealed that the three-time All-Star “underwent a scan  that confirmed he has suffered an ACL injury. ”

“We wish Nickie the very best in his recovery and assure him of our total support in the months ahead.”

Quaid is likely to miss the entire National League campaign and will be under pressure to be available for the Munster Championship opener with Tipperary at Semple Stadium, Thurles next April.

The Effin clubman has been first-choice netminder since his debut way back in 2010.

Quaid’s understudy in 2024 was Jason Gillane (Patrickswell), younger brother of Aaron.
